A Paradise Lost

The world indeed had been unkind,
To Milton - who, impoverished, blind,
For a mere ten pounds tossed,
Copyright to Paradise Lost -
An epic poem, that is one of its kind!

On April 27th 1667, an impoverished and blind John Milton sold the copyright to his Paradise Lost for a mere £10.

  1. Well, wasn't £10 worth a lot in those days? ;-) Whether 17th century authors could make much money on their published books, seems an unsure question...

  2. Yes, am sure they are chewing their beards and wishing that they were born in this day and age :-)
