Recipe for a limerick

Raven sends in this interesting recipe that he feels is essential for penning a good limerick:

RECIPE FOR A LIMERICK
In writing a good limerick
Like a cocktail, the mix does the trick
Though wit is the base, but
A soupcon of smut
Does add to the strength of the kick!
~ RAVEN

What is your recipe?

Season's greetings!

Newsmericks wishes all its readers Shubho Bijoya and a happy Dussehra.

Before we continue with our daily updates, here is a limerick sent in by a reader who calls himself Raven :-)

#1. ON THE PUJA CELEBRATIONS
Whether you're sixty or twenty
Pujas have delights aplenty:
But the singing with folk
And the band-noise plus smoke
Are a boon for the local ENT!
~RAVEN

Here I must admit that the noise levels have come down drastically over the years and you will hardly find the blaring music that was a cornerstone of Pujas in the yesteryears. Will post some pictures soon. Till then, enjoy another of Raven's neat little pieces.

#2 ON WITH THE DANCE
One step forward, two steps back
See us dance the "Nuclear Track" -
We are partners, true
But combatants too
Only politicians have this knack!
~ RAVEN

Like Raven, you too can send in your limericks to Newsmericks. If it tickles Inkspot's funny bone, then we promise to publish it on this site :)

Reader Entry: On India's Twenty20 win

Inkspot is still lost in Sri Lanka's magnificient cultural triangle but in the meantime India has lifted the Twenty20 cup. Reader Sundara Venkatesan (who is also the winner of the Newsmericks award in the recently run Inditickles Contest) sends in this entry:
Talking of Mahendra Singh Dhoni
As a player and leader, one must own he
Has proved just the ticket
To revive Indian cricket
Whose path had till lately seemed stony.

Enjoy!
