The politics of politics

“The government can't buy out farmland
And set up industries” - her stand.
“The farmers being poor,
Are very easy to lure,
But I will not let cheques reach their hand!”

Well, her parent party soon took note
And thought, this might rake in the vote.
With this turn in tide,
They rushed to her side
And were seen gladly boarding her boat!

Now there is a saying that goes -
'In politics you’ve no friends or foes'.
For years ostracized,
But as 'Durga' now prized,
Will this glory end our Mamatadi’s woes?

TOI 26/09/06: Mamata is 'political Durga' of Bengal says the Congress. Read the story here.

    Politics throws together strange bedfellows,
But that will not end the woes
    For this 'Durga" of politics
'Cos she does'nt understand votebank economics.
So, Congress-Mamta - story of the thorn with the rose...
