The Telegraph 04/12/06:They came from far and wide to receive the biggest academic honor of their lives from the hands of the governor. But the 250-odd PhD-holders from Utkal University were in for an unpleasant surprise at the institute’s 40th convocation ceremony. Governor Thakur, the chancellor of the university, wanted to leave early so that he could see off visiting Union cabinet secretary and chief guest B.K. Chaturvedi. ReplyDeleteI am not sure if you remember an old Jaspal Bhatti serial(forgot the name) on DD,but in that the students go thru all kinds of household activities at the Profs house before they get their Phd.That is not far fetched.But to get their degree from a Peon is the final insult!Really sad.
