Fish tales and sliding scales

A] Fish tales

When reporters asked Bush, "If you make
Your success listing, what takes the cake?"
He scratched his grey head,
Laughed proudly and said,
"It's that fish I once caught in my lake!"

Reuters 07/05/06: U.S. President George W. Bush told a German newspaper his best moment in more than five years in office was catching a big perch in his own lake. "You know, I've experienced many great moments and it's hard to name the best," Bush told weekly Bild am Sonntag when asked about his high point since becoming president in January 2001. "I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound (3.402 kilos) perch in my lake," he told the newspaper in an interview published on Sunday.

B] Sliding scales

Gas prices, Iraq and immigration,
In the U.S., they are causing frustration,
And people are now wishing,
That Bush had stuck to fishing,
Instead of messing around with the Nation!

NYT 10/05/06: Mr. Bush's approval ratings for his management of foreign policy, Iraq and the economy have fallen to the lowest levels of his presidency. He drew poor marks on the issues that have been at the top of the national agenda in recent months, in particular immigration and gasoline prices.
